この英文の記事を和訳してください。Top court rules against teacher in anthem disputeThe Supreme Court rejected a free-speech lawsuit Monday filed by a teacher who was reprimanded for refusing to facethe flag and sing the national anthem―acts that unionists say praise Japan\'s militarist past. The64-year-old is among dozens of other teachers and staff who ignored an edict issued by the Tokyo education board stating that they must stand in front of the Hinomaru at school ceremonies and sing \"Kimigayo\" in praise of the Emperor. They argue that the board breached the Constitution―which guarantees the freedom of thought and conscience―when it verbally reprimanded them for refusing to follow the directive. The plaintiff was appealing a ruling by a lower court in 2009 that said it was reasonable to ask teachers to take part in school-wide activities and found that the punishments meted out \"neither force any particular philosophy nor ban any.\" The former teacher ignored the order at the graduation ceremony for a Tokyo school in 2004. Presiding Judge Masahiko Sudo rejected the appeal, referring to the order. \"The order did not force the plaintiff to believe in certain thought,\"the judge was quoted by the Yomiuri Shimbun as telling the court. Teacher\'s unions have argued that blindly respecting the national anthem harks back to Japan\'s Shinto-inspired militarist days under the late Emperor Hirohito(known posthumously as Emperor Showa), who was considered divine during World War Ⅱ.
